Welcome to Tathkeer. We are committed to protecting your privacy and respecting your personal data. This app is designed with a "local-first" principle, meaning most of your data stays on your device and is fully encrypted.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Tathkeer app.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

• No Account Needed: The app does not require creating an account or logging in. All your data is stored locally on your device only.
• Dhikr & Supplication Content: All your dhikr, supplications, and statistics are stored locally on your device, encrypted using SQLCipher.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Device Information: Device type, operating system, app version
• Usage Data: App interactions, dhikr used, session duration
• Analytics Data: Anonymous analytics collected via Firebase Analytics and Google AdMob
• Location Data: When permitted, we collect your location to calculate accurate prayer times. Location is used locally only and never sent to our servers.

1.3 Biometric Data

If you enable biometric app lock, the app uses your device's fingerprint or face recognition. We do not store or access this biometric data - processing is entirely handled by your device's operating system.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• Provide App Functionality: Save your dhikr, track progress, display statistics
• Calculate Prayer Times: Use your location to calculate accurate prayer times
• Home Screen Widgets: Display your dhikr on the home screen via background service
• Background Audio: Play audio recitations via Foreground Service
• Authentication (Optional): Verify your identity if you create an account
• Process Subscriptions: Manage Pro subscriptions via app stores
• Display Ads (Free Users): Show ads via Google AdMob. If you reject consent for personalized ads, we will display limited ads (non-personalized) based only on app content, without tracking your behavior.
• Improve the App: Analyze usage via Firebase Analytics
• Send Notifications: Remind you of daily dhikr (can be disabled)
• Security: Protect the app and users from fraud and abuse

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We may share your information with:

3.1 Service Providers

• Google AdMob: To display ads and collect analytics (free users only)
• Google Play Store / Apple App Store: To process payments and subscriptions

3.2 Consent Management (for EU Users)

For users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we use the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to display a consent form on first launch. This form allows you to:

• Accept or reject personalized advertising
• Manage your ad privacy preferences
• Update your choices anytime via: Settings → Privacy → Ad Privacy Settings

3.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid legal requests.

4. Data Storage & Security

4.1 Local Storage (Most of Your Data)

• All your dhikr and statistics are stored locally on your device
• We use SQLCipher encryption with PBKDF2 to protect the local database
• Data never leaves your device unless you choose to create an account

4.2 Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information, including:

• Data encryption at rest (SQLCipher)
• Password hashing (bcrypt/PBKDF2)
• Secure connections (HTTPS/TLS)
• No credit card storage (processed by Google/Apple)

4.3 Data Retention

We retain data for the following periods:

• Local Data: Stored on your device until you delete the app or clear data
• Firebase Analytics Data: Retained for 14 months (per Google's policy)
• AdMob Data: Retained for up to 7 years (activity analytics) and 90 days (user activity)
• Account Data (if created): Retained until you request account deletion

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data
• Rectification: Update inaccurate personal information
• Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data
• Cancellation: Cancel your subscription anytime via the app store
• Opt-Out: Disable personalized ads in your device settings
• Global Privacy Control (GPC): We respect GPC signals as a valid opt-out request for personalized advertising

How to Exercise Your Rights:

• Delete Account: Settings → Account → Delete Account
• Cancel Subscription: Google Play Store or Apple App Store → Subscriptions

• Geolocator: For location detection to calculate prayer times (locally only)

7. Children's Privacy

Tathkeer app is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us to have it deleted.

8. Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

• Posting the new policy on this page
• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top
• Sending an in-app notification for material changes

9. Your Consent

By using the Tathkeer app, you consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the app.
